10.02.05 Square Foot Gardening Training
The Bana Team received training in Square Foot Gardening. As part of the agricultural focus in the REACH Programs, this technique will be taught to the orphans by the Bana Team. Square Foot Gardening is an efficient way to produce large quantities of fruits and vegetables in a minimal amount of space. The children at each orphanage will cultivate their gardens daily, learning responsibility and self sufficiency as they provide for their own physical needs. Holly Harris, President, and Whitney Johnson, Public Relations Director, were featured on the 820 AM "Wakin' up with Kurt and Rebecca" show. They introduced The Bana Project, its mission and goals, and talked about the preparation for the first trip to South Africa in December 2005. This was a great opportunity to excite the local community about The Bana Project and encourage their support.
