PROGRAMS

The Bana Project implements and sustains the following REACH Programs for each orphanage:

RESOURCES
Donations from local businesses and organizations provide much needed food, clothing, supplies and services to the orphanages. The Resources Program creates community awareness, an opportunity to contribute, and ongoing collection and distribution systems.

EDUCATION
A positive learning environment and stimulating activities are essential to the mental and social development of two to six year-old children. The Preschool Education Program fulfills this need by hiring and training a local teacher along with classroom volunteers, as well as providing a curriculum rich in language, math, science, art, and music skills.

School-aged children are more likely to thrive when supported by a tutoring program and positive role models. The Academic Leadership Program utilizes local high school and university student volunteers who assist with language, math, and science while promoting the children's confidence, motivation, and analytical skills.

AGRICULTURE
Providing sufficient quantities of nutritious food is essential to the healthy growth and development of the children. This challenge is addressed through the Square Meter Garden Program. This low-cost technique is quickly implemented, effectively utilizes space, produces high crop yields, and is easily maintained by the children and local volunteers.

COMMUNITY
Ongoing community support and involvement insures the continuation of all the programs within the orphanage. The Community Volunteer Program provides the systems to recruit, train, manage, and retain dedicated local volunteers who effectively contribute their time and talents.

HEALTH
A healthy lifestyle contributes to the quality of life for the orphans, their caretakers, and the entire community. The Health Sciences Program teaches the benefits and practices of a nutritious diet, exercise, and proper personal hygiene to the children and all involved adults.
